Paddling along a rather slow portion of the White River. This river is very fun but the water level is only good till no later then mid-june. Some reviews make it seem difficult, but it really is not. Its a great family river since its not quite as boring as others, and offers some entry level white water fun. The rapids are so small that they post no real danger, just fun.

Finish Location at dam in Essex Junction
We started our Winooski river journey just ahead of this bridge. The journey took us around 30 miles to Essex Junction where there is a dam. It is a good place to start.
Apparently this may also be a good place to finish the journey. I am not 100% sure about this but on our trip after the first 10 miles the water really slowed down and the river became quite boring. In fact we barely made it to Essex Junction due to having to continuously paddle most of the way. We got off to the right of the dam in hte picture below. Personally i recommend going on this river only during high water season, otherwise you will be getting occasionally stuck.
This weekend me and a few friends went on a trip to Lake Winnipesaukee.. The trip turned out to be a fantastic one. We got a chance to build and test our outrigger at night which performed flawlessly. The day was spent sailing around the islands and collecting blueberries. A great place to start your canoe voyage is from Melvin village. This towns has a few public docks with free parking and an overall provides very good access to the water.
