The Allagash is a 92 mile river that is ideal for canoeing. The river is largely flat-water except for some spots of class 1-2 rapids. This river provides for some good scenery; It is one of the most remote in this part of the country. Trips on this river can take anywhere from 2-7 days depending on how you go about doing it. Here is a list of links and resources to plan your trip. This river is not for everyone, it requires multiple days of camping and lots of rowing to complete. Wind conditions can also change on the lakes making it hard to row.
